Company Overview

Cardiosolutions was organized in 2006 to develop a less-invasive alternative to repairing the mitral valve of the heart. The Company’s research and development team has originated a new system to repair defects of the mitral valve. Cardiosolutions Percu-Pro System will provide a percutaneous countermeasure to incursive surgical repair of the heart’s mitral valve structure. The process consists of a proprietary implant that is placed into the heart’s mitral orifice. The method of delivery is a novel, catheter-based deployment system that allows access to the heart through the patients femoral (leg) vein. The Percu-Pro System will offer a unique solution similar to ring annuloplasty and edge-to-edge repair all in one modality. The Company feels the Percu-Pro System will facilitate mitral valve repair in an entirely new community of elderly and debilitated patients that would not be able to endure an open heart procedure.

Cardiosolutions was incubated by STD Med, a developer and manufacturer of medical devices, owned by some of the founding shareholders of Cardiosolutions. STD Med is an “original equipment manufacturer” or “OEM” for many of the world’s largest medical device companies, with a strong history of medical product development and enhancement. In addition, STD Med is registered with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (the “FDA”) and is certified under ISO 9001 and ISO 13485. Cardiosolutions’ relationship with STD Med provides several key benefits. These benefits include design, development and engineering capabilities, the ability to “fast track” fabrication prototypes and to adapt and modify prototypes in the manufacturing and design stages. In addition, Cardiosolutions’ relationship with STD Med has allowed development work to proceed without large expenditures for general and administrative services, investment in a prototyping facility and outfitting new offices.
