Steven J. Tallarida – President and Chairman of the Board
Mr. Tallarida brings to Cardiosolutions his expertise and experience from over twenty years of manufacturing medical products. Mr. Tallarida is an owner and director of STD Med, Inc. and has been President of STD Med for over seventeen years, during which time he transformed the company from defense manufacturing to an ISO 9001 and ISO 13485 certified, medical device design and manufacturing company. In addition to co-founding Cardiosolutions, Mr. Tallarida is also a co-founder of Arthrosurface Incorporated which is developing and marketing novel devices for the resurfacing of lesions in the articular cartilage of the joints. Mr. Tallarida also co-founded two other medical device companies, Spirus Medical, a medical device company developing and marketing new technology for the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal disorders, and Angiolink Corporation, a medical device startup in the interventional cardiology field, which was sold to Medtronic in November 2004.

Jon Wilson – Chief Operating Officer
Mr. Wilson is a twenty-year veteran of the medical device industry with extensive experience managing R&D and Operations for both mature and start-up companies. He spent thirteen years at US Surgical Corporation in various high visibility positions including Sr. Director-R&D, in the mechanical stapler division and Sr. Director-Operations, in the cardiovascular division. Mr. Wilson most recently held the position of Vice President of Product Development and Operations for device start-up companies such as HydroCision, Inc. and TissueLink Medical, Inc. His expertise includes operations engineering and management, product design and development, process development, and quality systems in the medical device industry. Mr. Wilson has developed products in multiple market segments, including cardiovascular, OB/GYN, thoracic, arthroscopic, and general colorectal (open and endoscopic). He is a named inventor on 8 issued patents and has successfully brought more than 110 products to market, across 15 different platforms, over a twenty-year period.

Michele Lucey – Vice President of Regulatory Affairs
Ms. Lucey’s areas of expertise include Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Affairs, and Quality Compliance with over 25 years of professional experience in the medical device field. Ms. Lucey’s medical device career began in 1979 at US Surgical Corporation with responsibilities in chemical, biological, and mechanical testing to support new product development efforts. She served as Director of Corporate Quality Control for USSC from 1987-1992 and continued in the device industry with Design Standards Corporation, a device OEM contractor, from 1993-2001, followed by positions at a wound closure startup and as an independent consultant in regulatory and quality compliance. In 2004 Michele joined Applied Spine Technologies, as VP of Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance. The company has a multicenter IDE pivotal trial underway for a spine dynamic stabilization system. Ms. Lucey then returned to independent consulting in May of 2008.She successfully obtained marketing clearance for a variety of medical devices, both in the United States and internationally. Ms. Lucey has also led several companies through the process of obtaining ISO Certification and CE markings under the European Medical Device Directives.

Bob St.John – Director of Access Systems
Mr. St.John has thirty years of experience in the design and development of disposable medical devices. Having held numerous Sr. R&D product/project and management positions, he is well skilled in the methods of taking a medical product from an idea, to prototype, and then to production. During his career he has worked for Boston Scientific, C. R. Bard and Smiths Industries Medical Systems. More recently, Mr. St.John held the position of General Manager for New England Catheter, a custom manufacturer of precision reinforced catheter tubing. Much of his device experience has been with less-invasive, percutaneous products also know as catheters. Some of the catheter products he has worked on are; Angiography, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump, Occlusion Balloon, peripheral and Coronary Balloon Angioplasty, epidural and spinal anesthesia, subcutaneous pain management and a number of GI and Endobronchial catheters. He also developed a line of Coronary By-Pass Cannulae and neo-natal suction/intubation devices. Mr. St.John’s areas of technical expertise include; thermoplastic extrusion, wire and textile braiding, injection molding, plastics bonding and joining techniques, plastics selection, catheter specific manufacturing processes and equipment, test/inspection techniques and the ability to produce unique prototype devices.

Ross J. Garofalo – Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Mr. Garofalo is the Chief Financial Officer of Spirus Medical, Inc. another start- up company incubated at STD Med. In addition to serving as CFO for Spirus, he will be the company’s part-time CFO. Mr. Garofalo has extensive experience in financing and managing innovative medical device companies. Before joining Spirus, he was the CFO of Angiolink Corporation, the first company incubated at STD Med, from its inception until its sale to Medtronic in 2004. Before that Mr. Garofalo was the sole proprietor of Eastern Consulting, a financial and interim CFO consulting firm located in Massachusetts. Prior to forming Eastern Consulting, Mr. Garofalo was CFO of Jandel Scientific Software until its acquisition by SPSS Inc. in 1996. Mr. Garofalo was a partner at Berg and Company, a San Francisco-based firm specializing in turnaround management and interim CFO services. Mr. Garofalo is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
