Market Opportunity

In the U.S. today, there are over two million patients diagnosed as having significant mitral regurgitation with 250,000 new diagnoses each year. Only 50,000 patients address their condition annually due to the rigors of current treatment methods which depend on open heart surgery. Open heart surgery is highly invasive and can be tolerated by only a small subset of the population. A substantial group of patients have no option because they are too sick to survive the surgery. Additionally, many patients delay treatment because they have only moderate symptoms. These patients could benefit form a less invasive solution that would prevent them from advancing to a more serious disease state. Of the five million people in the U.S. suffering from congestive heart failure (CHF), funtional mitral regurgitation is common and significantly increases their risk of mortality. Similar unmet needs also exist in Europe. Cardiosolutions seeks to address this nearly $2 billion market opportunity for percutaneous metral valve repair with its innovative Perc-Pro™ System.
